Student Spotlight – Zoe Cahal

Getting to Know . . . Zoe Cahal

What grade are you in and when do you expect to graduate?
Zoe CahalI am a senior and expect to graduate in Spring 2016.

Which Catapult Academy campus do you attend?
I attend the Marion Oaks campus in Ocala, Florida.

Why is getting a high school diploma important to you?
A high school diploma will provide more and better opportunities for myself and my future.

What are your plans for the future after you receive your diploma?
I plan to get my cosmetology license as soon as I’m able to. My long-term goal is to be a certified dance instructor and to open my own studio to teach.

Tell us something interesting about yourself-what are your special interests, talents, or hobbies?
I have been a dancer for the past 15 years and it is what I want to do for the rest of my life. Dancing is my biggest passion. I feel so amazing when I am dancing, especially when I tap dance—it has always been one of my favorite styles.

What is one piece of advice you would give to other students who dropped out of high school?
I would tell students to not give up, because if you keep working toward your goals, good opportunities will come your way.  Don’t ever give up on yourself, because at the end of the day you’re all that you have.

What is the best part about attending Catapult Academy?
To me there are many different reasons for attending Catapult Academy, such as the age you are able to be while getting the work done, how understanding everyone is, and the fact that there is no cost for the students.  If this program wasn’t so flexible, I don’t think I would have ever gotten my diploma.

Is there a person at Catapult Academy who really helped you along on your journey? How have they helped you?
There is more than one person that has helped me at Catapult Academy.  Everyone at the main office has been very helpful in getting me on the right path to graduate.  Those who have pushed me the most are Ms. Mooney, Ms. Powelson, and Mrs. Gonzalez. I can’t thank them enough for all that they have done. They are all so amazing at their jobs. They are teaching me to be a better person and to have a better future. So, thank you all for everything, I don’t think I would have done it without you. Your support has meant the world to me.
