The Student Spotlight is a regular feature here on the Catapult Academy blog. The students that are highlighted are nominated by teachers and staff in recognition of their achievement. They are our very own shining stars!
This week we interview Marion County Student, Kourtney Bivins.
Getting to Know . . . Kourtney Bivins
What grade are you in and when do you expect to graduate?
I am in 12th grade and am planning on graduating at the end of April!
Which Catapult Academy center do you attend?
I attend Tuckerhill Catapult Academy in Ocala, Florida.
Why is getting a high school diploma important to you?
Getting a high school diploma is important to me because it is the first and maybe most important step to being successful in life.
What are your plans for the future after you receive your diploma?
In the future I see myself either attending college or enlisting in the Navy.
Tell us something interesting about yourself-what are your special interests, talents, or hobbies?
I play the flute, soccer, and volleyball. I also love to read!
What is one piece of advice you would give to other students who dropped out of high school?
If there is a way for you to get back in, do it. It will be extremely beneficial for you in the long run to get back into school.
What is the best part about attending Catapult Academy?
The best part about going to Catapult Academy is being able to work at your own pace. Some students learn better independently, whereas others need more help. You can get both here.
Is there a person at Catapult Academy who really helped you along on your journey? How have they helped you?
Overall, everyone here supports you and wants the best for you. Every teacher here will dedicate themselves to helping you and seeing you succeed.
